Bodywork Therapy

Bodywork encompasses a variety of specialised techniques for working with the body to relieve pain and restore balance. It includes but isn't limited to familiar forms of massage therapy.
A typical bodywork session is given on a low wide massage table or a mat on the floor, allowing the practitioner to move, position, and work more freely with the body to provide the most effective therapy.
A bodywork therapist has advanced training in anatomy and physiology, and techniques and approaches to support emotional and mental well-being.
When you come for a bodywork therapy treatment, the practitioner will usually ask a few questions to assess your needs for the session. As well as remedial and therapeutic massage techniques, treatment may incorporate acupressure, shiatsu, fascia release, passive stretching, pulsing, and rocking, to restore balance and well-being.

If you find massage helpful, you will love the experience of a bodywork session.

Moruya Chiro and Wellness offers three styles of bodywork treatment:

Bodywork Therapy
If you are seeking a therapeutic massage-style treatment, a bodywork therapy session is a great option and a gentle introduction to more advanced forms of bodywork.

Whether you are seeking treatment for chronic pain, an injury, mental and emotional well-being, or simply for nourishment; these sessions are intelligently and attentively crafted to meet your needs.

These bespoke sessions are offered on a table and draw on familiar massage and specialised bodywork techniques.
Sessions may combine flowing movement, rhythmic strokes, and pressure to target muscles as well as techniques to release fascia and support structural integrity. They may also include acupressure and meridian therapy.

Zenthai Shiatsu Bodywork
Zenthai Shiatsu is a fluid mindful bodywork therapy that draws on zen shiatsu, traditional Thai massage, and osteopathic techniques.

ZenThai is guided by Chinese five-element theory the principle of focused intention.
It is an effective structural and energetic therapy that is also incredibly nourishing and good for the soul.

Emotional or physical trauma, postural imbalance, and pathogens can restrict the flow of blood, chi, or nerve impulses, resulting in pain, low energy, and a diminished sense of well-being.
Musculoskeletal, digestive, and nervous system issues are all beautifully supported by this therapy.
These sessions are offered on a mat on the floor with receivers wearing loose, comfortable clothing. Diagnosis will usually include pulse and tongue diagnosis at the beginning of each session.
Rhythmic mobilisation, acupressure along meridian lines, passive stretching, yogic gestures, and breath are some ingredients that make up this deeply nourishing and healing experience.
Each session is unique, focusing on client needs. A treatment may have a remedial and realignment focus, or it could be to create a feeling of freedom and spaciousness.

Transformational Bodywork
Transformational Bodywork is for those who want to delve deeper into subconscious patterns and chronic holding in the body. These sessions are for those on a personal growth journey or who are feeling stuck and want to shift what is holding them back.
This specialised form bodywork focuses on fascia and breath.
Fascia is the connective tissue that wraps all muscles, bones, and nerves throughout the body. It plays a significant role in mediating chronic
pain and inflammation. Memories, emotions, and trauma are stored in fascia and can be accessed, released, and resolved via manual therapies.
Transformational Bodywork has its roots in Rolfing, Postural Integration, Lowen Therapy, and Holotropic Breathwork. It is offered as a
progressive series of 12 sessions lasting 90-120 minutes. You can do as many or as few as you
need. The best results come from committing to three sessions or more. These are ideally spaced no more than two weeks apart.
